Martinsville, Virginia is a small southern city, whose residents enjoy mild winters and soft summers at one of the most beautiful places on the planet.

Located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, one of the oldest mountain ranges on the earth, the area has lakes, streams and idyllic woodlands.

An historic community, Martinsville was named for Gen. Joseph Martin, a supporter of President Madison. People were living here before the revolution, before the city ever had an official name.

This is the location of the Martinsville Speedway, which sponsers NASCAR events. In Martinsville's sister county of Henry, a portion of Fairystone Park and Philpott Lake provide boating, camping and fishing along with other activities. The Park and Lake cover areas of several counties. Martinsville has the Virginia Museum of Natural History, a great place for dinosaur exhibits and is the home of the Piedmont Arts Association, which showcases the works of many talented artists.
